When I was offered an opportunity to work with Blurb.com on my blog I was more than thrilled. I have heard of them before through friends and it was exciting to work on my own project using their innovative publishing platform. Blurb.com makes it easy to design and publish professional-quality books.
There are three main options when designing your book. You can have full creative reign over the design with PDF to Book or you can use their super easy to use software Booksmart with design templates or Bookify where you can unleash your creativity from cover to cover.
For my review I decided to work with Booksmart. The download took a simple click on their site after registering and I was ready to start working on my book. I love how easy it was to create my perfect design and use my photos and my own work. This invitation to use their site came at the perfect time since I was working on putting together a short green parenting guide to give to all of my pregnant/mommy friends and was ready to be published. I thought it was a great idea to spread the word about green parenting. With Blurb.com I was able to publish it and make it available for other people to purchase as well.
Blurb allows you to publish anything from a photo book outlining your last vacation to a full-blown novel. If you have been waiting to publish your portfolio, create a baby book, tell the story of your wedding or share your amazing recipes then Blurb.com is for you.
After publishing the book you are directed to a page where you can buy a copy of your book. There are different prices for the different papers and cover types. You can set up your book to be private or public and set a price if you decide to make it public and available for purchase.
The process is super easy and their website makes it all a breeze! One of my favorite things about Blurb is that there is no need to print hundreds of copies of a book and have them sitting to see who will buy them. With Blurb the only books that are printed are the ones purchased (unless you buy multiple copies yourself) saving paper and making it a lot more affordable to have your books available to the public.
The only thing I wish they had is an eBook store. It would definitively be wonderful if they added an eBook section with the published books so people could buy they electronic versions of the book to download to their eBook readers. Other than that I love their page and I will be recommending it to all of my creative friends and family looking for a place to publish their creations.
Here is the guide I worked on and published via Blurb.com
