I first watched The Help at the movies with a couple of girlfriends right when it came out in theaters. I read the book by Kathryn Stockett so I knew about the story and I was really looking forward to watching the movie. Well, I absolutely loved it and I knew I wanted to get the DVD as well.
I received a copy of the Blu-ray and DVD and watched it with my hubby for movie night. The movie is extremely inspirational and empowering. I cried both the first and second time I watched it. The performances are extraordinary and there are some very emotional scenes that were performed to really touch the audience.
I loved the bonus features, the deleted scenes from the DVD were great and I liked that the Director Tate Taylor gave the introductions. The music video of "Living Proof" by Mary J. Blige showing key scenes from the movie is wonderful as well.
The Help is filled with humor and hope. This movie may me both laugh and cry and really inspired me with the amazing story of some very courageous women. I really recommend this movie because it is timeless and beautiful. A must see!
Synopsis:
Based on one of the most talked about books in years and a #1 New York Times best-selling phenomenon, THE HELP stars Emma Stone as Skeeter, Academy Award®–nominated Viola Davis as Aibileen and Octavia Spencer as Minny—three very different, extraordinary women in Mississippi during the 1960s, who build an unlikely friendship around a secret writing project that breaks societal rules and puts them all at risk. From their improbable alliance a remarkable sisterhood emerges, instilling all of them with the courage to transcend the lines that define them, and the realization that sometimes those lines are made to be crossed—even if it means bringing everyone in town face-to-face with the changing times.
